About the Test


FEMOFLOR® is a comprehensive assay based on real-time PCR for complex evaluation of vaginal microbiome composition, diagnosis of dysbiotic conditions and detection of sexually transmitted infections.  

Aerobic and anaerobic opportunistic pathogens are present in certain concentrations as a component of the natural microflora in the female urogenital tract. Establishing the amount of these opportunistic microorganisms and their exact ratio to the number of  lactobacillus and the total number of microorganisms provides information about the patient's cervico-vaginal status, being within the norm or having a disease.

Traditional, widely used, diagnostic tests are associated with subjectivity in reporting the results and in distinguishing the norm from dysbacteriosis. They are also unable to cultivate a large number of anaerobic microorganisms with a clear etiology in the development of dysbiosis. This is often the reason for incorrect diagnosis and inappropriate treatment, increase in recurrences and resulting complications.

Prophylaxis of bacterial vaginosis - is it necessary?

In a large number of cases, there are no obvious symptoms of vaginal dysbiosis and this condition often goes unnoticed.
